Cotswold stone – Wikipedia describes Cotswold stone as a yellow oolitic limestone quarried in many places in the Cotswold Hills.

Over time, it weathers to a beautiful honey colour, although the actual darkness will depend on where it was quarried. Stone from the northern Cotswolds will be relatively dark compared with that from the more southern edge of the Cotswolds.

Ashlar is ‘dressed’ stone work in any type of stone. It typically looks more like large squarish blocks that give a more even, ‘perfect’ appearance than Cotswold stone. For this reason, the mortar joints tend to be finer.

Ridge tiles and finials – although highly attractive, are actually used to complete a roof and ensure that it is waterproof. Made from clay, there are numerous types of tile from double cambers and creasing tiles, to pantiles, hip and valley tiles.

Bricks are one of the most commonly used reclaimed materials and bricks were originally manufactured in the 18th Century on the site at Sandhurst where Ronson Reclaim stands today.

Traditional, reclaimed bricks have a character all of their own and will bring a piece of history to your project. The clay used varies in colour depending on the area of origin so giving each brick an individual signature. Our bricks come from all over the country, reclaimed from old buildings and period properties. They’re taken out and sorted by hand and then cleaned, again by hand, before storing. It’s a very labour intensive process.

The variety of colors, versatility of uses, wide availability, durability and beauty of flagstone make it an ideal material to use in a range of projects. It has a naturally non-slip surface which makes it perfect for both indoor and outdoor uses. Flagstone can be used for paving, roofing, fences, headstones, patios, walkways, pillars and facades. The stone ranges from ½” to 2″ thick. The slabs are usually cut or broken into irregular shapes, adding to the beauty many find in the look of the random, less contrived pattern of a flagstone walkway or patio.

If you plan to lay an oak floor over an underfloor heating system (pipes or electric mats) then itís best to choose engineered boards that resist swelling and moving.
